Teachers RAVE about our Tea Project Courses:

“Mindfulness is not something that I had been practicing until February. It’s something that I’d like to be more intentional about, especially as an educator next year. This course offered me a good way to introduce mindfulness slowly with my students. In my research for class, I discovered there is so much evidence on improved SEL skills when using Mindfulness in the Classroom.

In addition, I LOVED all of the wonderful plant knowledge. I am so excited! I can recognize so many plants now, A TON! Even today, I was on a walk with my first graders, and I recognized Mullein! It’s neat to be able to ID plants. One month ago, I could maybe ID 3 plants!”

-AC, Elementary Teacher and Spring 2023 Student

What is different about our graduate courses?

“There are still wild plants that I look at and say, who are you? But there are also many plants I look at and say, ‘Oh, Hi, friend.’ This really hit home from last semester to this semester.

I have never gardened before, either, this is the first time. It has given me that last piece to meet the goal I set last semester: I want to help children feel value towards weeds and know that everything is connected.

Mindful meditation, gardening and nature are all intertwined. Whether you’re doing it formally in the classroom or whether you’re doing it as a walk, or a sit spot, it supports children being more in the present and calm, and able to feel less stressed and more regulated. SO, its’s just amazing.

What surprised you about the Tea Project Courses?

“Weeds! I love this class’s metaphor for weeds: literally for the things we step on and take for granted. It’s the sorrel, it’s the dandelion. That whole idea of not taking granted of what’s right under your nose. Giving myself permission with the mindfulness. The idea of role modeling it and they will come along with you.”
